Each release of Microsoft Windows includes new features and capabilities while maintaining the highest levels of compatibility possible for existing applications that ran with previous versions of Microsoft Windows. However, customers should confirm their applications continue to behave normally as part of the deployment of any operating system update. For Microsoft Windows Vista, most applications that ran with Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) should continue to run with Windows Vista. While Windows XP SP2 introduced a more comprehensive security model, Windows Vista builds on this security.
